I help children’s book authors write, edit, publish and market their children’s book

Publish Your Children’s Book

There are nearly 1 million children’s books published each year. How can you make sure yours stands out? Let me guide you through the process so you end up with the best book possible.

Turn your idea into a book, the Bookfox way

Publishing

Don’t get lost in internet searches trying to find the right illustrator and figure out how to publish. Bookfox Press makes publishing a children’s book easy and painfree.

Writing

Write your children’s book in two weeks by following the steps in my course, even if you have no previous experience writing. Course includes 30 practical video lessons.

Editing

Take that first draft and radically improve it – my feedback and edits will show you what you’re already doing well, and will also help you pinpoint what to revise.

Publish stress-free

Traditional publishing rejects 99% of the children's books submitted to them, and children's book agents often won't even respond to your query letters.

And if you attempt the self-publishing route, it can be difficult to find an illustrator you trust and navigate the complexities of ISBNs and formatting.

Bookfox Press will make this process easy, taking your story and transforming it into a published book.

Imagine holding your book and reading it to your children, grandchildren, or students.

At Bookfox, we have an author-first policy:

  • You keep all the $$$ on the back end (100% of royalties go directly to you)
  • We connect you with top-notch illustrators, who capture the spirit and essence of your book better than you imagined it
  • You keep all the rights to your book (we don’t lock them up like so many publishers)

That’s why authors publish book after book with us (90% of authors who publish a second book use us again!).

Author-first policy

Hi, I’m John!

My journey to children’s books started with twins. I’d been teaching writing at the university level, but I quit to become a stay-at-home dad for my newborn twin boys.
I loved reading picture books to them, and soon amassed a huge library and fell in love with the simple stories and beautiful illustrations. I didn’t want to go back to teaching at the university, so instead I took all the classic storytelling techniques I used when editing novels, and started editing children’s books.

A decade later, I’ve helped more than 1,000 children’s book authors improve their story and publish their book (oh, and my twin boys are teenagers now).

I'm happily married in Orange County, California, and would love to help you with your book.

— Julie Kennedy, author of “Eddie Ventures Home”

“I took your course, “Two Weeks to Your Best Children’s Book” and you edited my manuscript “Eddie Ventures Home.” In the three weeks since the book was published on Amazon, I have sold over 1,000 copies!”

— Liz Somerville, author of "Rocco the Buffalo"

"John Fox gave me such nice comments, it really meant a lot. And he educated me on the various different techniques used with poems, which was helpful. I will be back for more editing when I finalize my next book."

— Chris Hammond, author of the "Camp Cookie Chris" series

"John is intensely committed to what makes a story work. He really understands the principles and he has great imagination to see ways to help strengthen my writing. With John Fox, expect the heart and soul of a true writer and artist. He is very, very good."

— Irene Walsh

"As an unpublished author, I wasn’t at all sure about using John’s editing service. I am very glad that I did! His edits and suggestions for my children’s story were excellent. One of the main differences was the ‘voice’ of the story. His suggestions made the ‘voice’ more clear. That is important in any story, but I think especially for children."
